This is the start of a daily update through music. Music is a vital part of my life. To date, it is my best coping mechanism and comes fully recommended by us. These are the songs that really spoke to me each day.
February 1st through February 7th
Monday – Unsteady by X Ambassadors & The Sun Is Rising by Britt Nicole
Unsteady is a song I listen to when in deep in thought or contemplating the difficulties of my past and present. It speaks to me during these times. Sometimes, I just really need to listen to the larger message of the song.
The Sun Is Rising is a hopeful song that comes from a difficult and painful place.
Tuesday – Don’t Wanna Fight by Alabama Shakes
Don’t Wanna Fight is a song about trying desperately to make it through a difficult place in life when you feel like giving up. It’s a difficult place where lovers are at each other’s throats and almost walk away because the stress of it all is getting difficult to take.
Wednesday – Talia by King Princess
Talia is a song about loss and loneliness. A remembrance of the past too difficult to let go.
Thursday – Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi & Waves by Dean Lewis
Before you go is a song I wished someone would have sang to me at some points. When listening I acknowledge my suicidal thoughts, as a part of myself, and try to come to terms with it.
Waves speaks of the ups and downs of life. When its down it gets so difficult to bear. How can the world we live in today give us an absolutes? How do we cope without them?
Friday – Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been by Relient K
Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been is a song I’ve loved every since I first heard it in the eighth grade. It’s about getting back to the person you really are which, turns out, is a such a difficult place to reach.
Saturday – I Know A Place by MUNA
I Know A Place is a song I wished I would have heard as a kid, so even today I listen with a high school mentality and it gives me hope and comfort both currently and as a healing song for my past.
Sunday – Live In The Moment by Portugal. The Man and Bruises by Lewis Capaldi
Live In The Moment is a upbeat song about no longer caring. Ground yourself and let things happen as they happen. Give yourself a break.
Bruises is a difficult song about living in misery because the pain of missing someone is far to great.
